Wasa, WSUP sign deal for healthy sanitation in Dhaka slums

WSUP Bangladesh also handed over 5 vacuum tanks to Dhaka Wasa

Dhaka Water Supply and Sewerage Authority (Wasa) and Water and Sanitation for Urban Poor (WSUP) on Thursday signed an agreement to ensure healthy sanitation services to slum dwellers and other residents of the capital.

The agreement titled “Vacuum Tank Handover and Lease Agreement Signing” was signed by Uttam Kumar Roy, commercial manager of Dhaka Wasa and Abdus Shahid, country program manager of WSUP Bangladesh, said a media statement.

Dhaka WASA Managing Director Taqsem A Khan presided over the signing ceremony.

Mir Mehedi Hossain, senior community officer of Dhaka Wasa, signed three separate agreements with Dr Dibalok Singh, executive director of Dushthya Shashthya Kendra (DSK); Shahamina Alam, proprietor of Healthy Tank BD; and Prabir Dutta, managing director of Lily's Family Limited at the event.

Additionally, WSUP Bangladesh handed over 5 vacuum tanks to Dhaka Wasa, with which the three NGOs will work to ensure hygienic sanitation services.
