The namaz-e-janaza of a Bangladeshi peacekeeper who was killed in a terrible road accident in Africa was held on Saturday at Dhaka Cantonment's Choppers Den.
The peacekeeper Md Abdullah Al Mamun died on October 25.
Senior officials of the Army as well as members of all ranks were present, read a press release published by Inter Services Public Relations Directorate (ISPR).
After the janaza, on behalf of the chief of Army, Quartermaster General (QMG) Lieutenant General Md Shamsul Haque laid a wreath in honour of the martyr.
The dead body of the peacekeeper was then flown to his hometown (BA College Road, Bindupara, Sirajganj) on an aviation helicopter. He was laid to rest with full military honours.
Bangladeshi Peacekeeper Lance Corporal Md Abdullah Al Mamun was deployed to the Central African Republic on a United Nations mission where he was working as an expeditionary at 37 St Batallion.
On October 25, Mamun was driving a water bowser (water tank) of LQRF-1, which lost traction on a slippery bridge and fell into a canyon at the Dele area of the Central African Republic.
His dead body reached Shahjalal International Airport, Dhaka, at 8:10am on Friday.
