3 members of a family electrocuted in Dhaka

Three members of a family have been electrocuted in Islambagh area in Old Dhaka. The deceased are Ameena Begum, 50, her daughter-in-law Shireen, 30, and Ameena’s granddaughter Afreen, 5. Confirming the matter, Dhaka Medical College Hospital police outpost in-charge Sub-Inspector Bachchu Miah told the Dhaka Tribune: “They were declared dead on arrival around 11:45am on Monday.” Deceased relative’s Mohammad Topu said: “They were electrocuted when the transformer near their house exploded and the wire fell on their tin-shed house. “The electricity office did not take any initiative to remove the transformer in spite of repeated request.”
