A total of 216 women and children were raped across the country in October.
The Bangladesh Mahila Parishad said this in a statement on Tuesday, reports Bangla Tribune.
According to the statement, child abuse increased alarmingly in October, as revealed in news reports carried in 13 newspapers.
A total of 436 women and girls were tortured in October, according to newspaper reports.

Of them, a total of 216 people were raped, including 44 gang rapes. Of these, 101 children were raped and 25 children were gang-raped.
Besides, rape attempts were made against 23 people, including 16 children. Five people were sexually assaulted, including three children.
The statement said 12 children were sexually abused while 10 people were victims of harassment.
Four children were burnt by acid, with one dying from it. Additionally, two people were burnt. Of them, one woman died, the statement added.
Meanwhile, a total of 12 people were abducted. Eight of them were children. Additionally, four people were trafficked, including a child, while three people were sold in red light districts.

The statement said 44 people, including 11 children, were killed due to various reasons in October. Besides, murder attempts were made on six people.
Eight people were reported tortured for dowry during this period. There were six incidents of child marriage.
21 people, including 15 children, were physically abused. Six people, five of them children, committed suicide due to various forms of torture. There were 46 mysterious deaths, including those of eight children, the statement said.
The statement also mentioned that eight people, including four children, had become victims of cybercrime.
