The Indian National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed charge sheets accusing 12 people, including nine Bangladeshis, for human trafficking.

The accused are allegedly members of a criminal network that lures poor Bangladeshi women with lucrative job offers before forcing them into prostitution in Mumbai, Hyderabad and other parts of India, according to Mumbai Mirror.

NIA sources quoted by a Bangladeshi English daily said the women were trafficked to India through the West Bengal border by crossing the Sonai River.

The accused are in judicial custody, while four victims rescued from different brothels are being sheltered at a home in Hyderabad. The charge sheets against the accused were filed with a Hyderabad court.
