Two more victims of the Narayanganj mosque blast have lost their battle for life at Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in Dhaka.

The deceased are Abdul Aziz, 40, a resident of West Tolla in Narayanganj's Fatullah, and Md Farid Mia, 55, of Ashian Dangori village in Trishal upazila of Mymensingh.

Aziz, who sustained 46% burns in his body, died while undergoing treatment at the intensive care unit (ICU) around 5am on Saturday, said Dr Partha Shangkar Paul, a resident physician at the institute.

Farid received 50% burns in the blast and succumbed to his injuries around 1:45pm, Dr Partha said.

"Three other victims are now undergoing treatment at the ICU," he added.

With the latest deaths, 33 people, including a child, have died from burns sustained in the explosion which took place at Baitus Salat Jame Mosque in Fatullah on September 4.

Four separate probe committees – by Narayanganj district administration, Fire Service, Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company Ltd (TGTDCL), and Dhaka Power Distribution Company (DPDC) -- have been formed to investigate the incident.

Meanwhile, a probe report of TGTDCL says unauthorized relocation of natural gas risers by two consumers, illegal power connection, and negligence of the mosque management committee are to blame for the blast.

The probe body formed by the Narayanganj district administration also reached a similar conclusion through its investigation of the tragic incident.

According to both reports, nobody or no organization was solely responsible for the incident.
