Info Minister: Priority for national dailies in registration

The minister made the remark while attending a meeting with the leaders of the Editors' Council at the secretariat

Information Minister Hasan Mahmud on Tuesday said the online versions of national daily newspapers will get priority in the registration of online news portals. 

The minister made the remark while attending a meeting with the leaders of the Editors' Council at the secretariat. 

"We are working so that online versions of daily newspapers can get registration quickly," Mahmud said. 

Prothom Alo Editor Matiur Rahman, Daily Sun Editor Enamul Hoque Chowdhury, Bangladesh Pratidin Editor Naem Nizam, Kaler Kantho Editor Imdadul Haq Milan and Bonikbarta Editor Dewan Hanif Mahmud were present at the meeting, among others.

After the discussion with the journalist leaders, the minister criticized BNP and alleged that the party is hindering democracy in the country.

“BNP is associated with the party of war criminals [Jamaat], who opposed the Liberation War of the country,” he said

"They are patronizing war criminals, militants," he added.

"Democracy is prevailing in the country and they [BNP] have to step away from the party of war criminals if they want any chance of success," the minister further said.
