Mamta Begum left Bangladesh for Kuwait 25 years ago in the hopes of earning a living. Two years ago, her daughter Swarnalata also joined her there to earn a livelihood.
In a cruel twist of fate, Ejaz Ahmed, Mamta’s only son living in Bangladesh, came to know that both his mother and sister were murdered on Friday hundreds of miles away in Kuwait.
Ejaz, now the only remaining member of the family, wants a fair trial for the murder of his mother and sister, as he spends his time waiting for their bodies to arrive in Bangladesh.
“My mother went to Kuwait to earn a livelihood. She managed to get a job in the school division of the government. She took my sister Swarnalata there two years ago. My sister got a job at a private organization,” Ejaz said.
Since Tuesday afternoon, Ejaz found both his mother and sister’s phones turned off. Eventually on Friday night, he received the news that Kuwait police had recovered their bloody bodies from the house they lived in, in Kuwait.
“Mother had kept Tk10 lakh at their house in Kuwait for sending here. She was supposed to send that money on Tuesday.
“Also, on Friday my sister was supposed to get married to an expatriate named Rabiul, from Jessore, who lives there,” Ejaz continued.

Through the Bangladeshi ambassador to Kuwait, he came to know that the house was looted by miscreants. He suspects that his mother and sister were brutally murdered by their acquaintances for money and other valuables items.
Demanding justice for the gruesome murders, Ejaz requested the Bangladesh government to take necessary steps to bring back the bodies of his mother and sister as soon as possible.
Dhamrai police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Deepak Chandra Saha said: “I have talked to the Bangladeshi ambassador to Kuwait and we’re aware of the murders. Efforts are underway to bring back the bodies of the mother and daughter to their home in Dhamrai.”
On Friday, a Bangladeshi woman and her daughter were found dead in an apartment of Jleeb in Kuwait.
The security authorities found the bodies with traces of blood in one of the rooms on the ground floor in Jleeb-Al-Shuyoukh, reports Arab Times.
The authorities confirmed that the mother and her daughter were murdered. A case of premeditated murder was recorded.
