Met office forecasts light to moderate rain across country

Day and night temperature likely to remain nearly unchanged across the country

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department on Monday predicted light to moderate rain or thundershowers in different parts of the country.

“Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind is likely to occur at most places over Khulna, Barishal, Chittagong, and Dhaka divisions and at many places over Rangpur, Rajshahi Mymensingh, and Sylhet divisions with moderately heavy to very heavy falls at some places over the country today (Monday),” said a met office release.

Day and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country.

The low over Jharkhand and adjoining area merged with the monsoon axis. The axis of monsoon trough runs through Punjab, Hariyana, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, and thence north-eastwards to Assam across central part of Bangladesh.

Maximum temperature on Sunday was recorded at 33.8° Celsius in Rajshahi and minimum temperature on Monday at 24.2° Celsius in Teknaf.

Maximum rainfall for the last 24 hours till 6am on Monday was recorded 157mm at Sandwip.

The sun sets at 6.30pm on Monday and rises at 5.35am on Tuesday in the capital.
