Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader has urged the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) to not stop the regular Covid-19 health bulletin completely.
The health department can telecast it twice a week instead of ending the live stream of the bulletin permanently, he said on Wednesday.
Quader, also the Road Transport and Bridges minister, made the statement at a virtual meeting from his official residence during a meeting with officials of Sylhet Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) and Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC).
He also urged the concerned authorities to take the matter into consideration so that rumours cannot be spread.

The government already banned mass gathering programs to prevent the Covid-19 outbreak, Quader also said.
“The government always took immediate action against any kind of irregularities or killing,” he said adding that “human chain and other political programs increase risk of transmission of Covid-19.
Last Covid-19 bulletin aired Tuesday
Various sources from the DGHS said the bulletin ended as per an instruction issued by the health ministry; DGHS does not have authority to take such a big decision, reports Bangla Tribune.
As the coronavirus infection is in control and the situation is getting better, the bulletin is not required anymore, Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleque said.
On Tuesday, the bulletin aired for the last time at 2:30pm. And from Wednesday, this regular bulletin will no longer be available, Zahid confirmed.
From Wednesday, the daily Covid-19 updates will be sent to the media in the form of a press release, sources at the DGHS said.
