President Abdul Hamid on Saturday called on those more fortunate to help the victims of the recent floods across the country so that they can share in the joy of Eid.
“Everyone, irrespective of party affiliation or opinion, should work so that the flood-affected people can also share the joy of Eid,” the president said in his speech on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha at Bangabhaban, reports BSS.
“Everyone should take care so that the helpless are not deprived of the joys of Eid. Wealthy and able people should come forward to share the joys of Eid with everyone, instead of confining it only to themselves and their families,” he added.
“At present many people in different districts are living with waterlogging and the government is providing possible assistance to them, including food and cash support,” the president further said.
He also drew attention to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic that is wreaking havoc across the globe and resulting unemployment issues that are plaguing many sections of society.
“Everyone has to extend helping hands from their respective positions for the cause the humanity. Doctors and nurses, families and relatives should be more sincere when treating and caring for the people infected with the lethal coronavirus,” the president said.
Furthermore, he stressed the need for everyone to maintain health guidelines and social distancing in their Eid celebrations.
“Stay safe and try to keep others safe as well, this should be everyone’s oath,” he said.
“Religion shows the path of welfare and light. Actual religious education and conduct helps create enlightened people, removes darkness and superstition from society and builds a unique bond of communal harmony among all, irrespective of religion and caste or creed,” the president added.
