Cyclone Mora: 14,250 people affected in Chittagong

At least 14,250 people in 11 upazilas of Chittagong have been affected by the severe cyclonic storm Mora. The cyclone made the landfall in the Chittagong-Cox’s Bazar coastline early Tuesday morning with gusty wind at the speed of 146kmph. According to Chittagong district administration, 2,596 houses were damaged partially while 2,745 houses were completely damaged due to the cyclone. No casualties were reported in the district, the district administration said in a text message on Wednesday. It said the coastal and river embankments in the district were not affected by the cyclone. The cyclone claimed the lives of at least nine people in Cox’s Bazar, Bhola, Rangamati and Bandarban districts.
