A case has been filed against Daily Inqilab Editor AMM Bahauddin under the Digital Security Act (DSA) over an article carried by the daily, which allegedly defamed an adviser to the prime minister.

The case, filed by Barrister Saumitra Sardar with Gulshan police station, also names one Selim Sarkar, said Sub-Inspector (SI) Nazrul Islam.

Charges had been brought under the act over defaming the prime minister’s political affairs adviser in the article, said the police officer.

The case documents refer to Selim Sarkar as a journalist, but Inqilab Special Correspondent Rafique Muhammad told Dhaka Tribune that no one by that name worked at the daily.
