Update : 29 May 2017, 05:53 PM
Bangladesh Border Guard (BGB) has set up a central surveillance system with modern technology at its headquarters in Pilkhana. BGB Director General (DG) Major General Abul Hossain inaugurated the new border surveillance system, as well as a revised web page, at the BGB headquarters operation room on Monday around 10am. Major General Abul Hossain said that, in the initial stages, a large modern display or “video wall” had been set up as part of the BGB's Smart Border Management System, which is being implemented to advance the goal of a Digital Bangladesh. As the new display allows for the viewing of 8 channels simultaneously, it will help centrally monitor CCTV footage from all outposts along the border from Dhaka and facilitate video conferencing between these outposts and headquarters, the BGB Director added. According to a BGB press release, messaging apps Skype, Viber, Whatsapp and Imo are all compatible with the new surveillance system and BGB officials can also use it to access satellite maps. Meanwhile the press release also said that updates on all BGB activity will be posted on the new webpage, including information on BGB’s history, martyrs, and awards as well as circulars such as those for recruitment. Furthermore, various publications, photographs and videos from the BGB will also be uploaded on the web page, which contains links to BGB’s separate regional websites.
