CNG refuelling stations to stay open 24hrs from June 21 to July 5

CNG refuelling stations across the country will remain open round the clock between June 21 and July 5 to ensure smooth fuel supply for the passenger vehicles during the Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations. “The Power and Energy Division has responded positively to our request to keep CNG stations open for 24 hours,” Road Transport Minister Obaidul Quader said during a preparatory meeting at BRTA head office in Dhaka on Monday. “Trucks and covered-vans will not be allowed on the highways for three days prior to and after the Eid," he said. Only those heavy vehicles transporting perishables, necessary foods, garments, medicine and fuel will be allowed to use the highways during that period. The minister said they had requested ready-made garment factory owners to grant their employees leave on a roster basis to reduce the homebound rush. Quader said: “Three teams have been formed to monitor whether bus companies are charging additional fares from passengers and to reduce passengers’ harassment at the bus terminals.”
