A total of 91 Bangladesh nationals have returned from Doha, while 412 people have left the country.
The returnee Bangladeshis were stranded in Qatar due to travel restrictions enforced in a bid to curb the coronavirus pandemic.
A flight of Qatar airways landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka at 6:57pm on Wednesday, said the airport’s Director Group Captain Touhid-ul Ahsan.
Of these returnees, 73 Bangladeshis were sent to 14-day institutional quarantine under the management of the Armed Forces Division as they failed to show medical clearance certificates upon arrival, said Dr Sajjad Shariar, the airport’s health officer.
Apart from that, 155 Nepalis left the country for Nepal at 1:40pm, 15 passengers departed for South Korea on a BAF C-130 flight at 4pm, and 252 passengers left for South Korea on a scheduled flight of Korean Air at 6pm, Touhid said.
Two more international airways seek permission to operate flight
Two international airlines have applied for permission to resume regular flights in Bangladesh – Air Arabia and Fly Dubai.
Earlier, Turkish Airlines, the national flag carrier airline of Turkey, and Emirates, a state-owned flag carrier airline based in Garhoud, Dubai, United Arab Emirates also applied for permission to resume flights to and from Bangladesh,” the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) Chairman Air Vice Marshal M Mafidur Rahman told Dhaka Tribune.
Air Arabia is scheduled to operate flights on Dhaka-Sharjah routes, Emirates and Fly Dubai would operate flights on Dhaka-Dubai route, and Turkish Airlines is set to operate flights on Dhaka-Istanbul routes, added CAAB Chairman.
