A fire broke out at Nangli camp under Chandpai range of the Sundarbans East Zone on Friday.
Locals first spotted the fire near Madraschhila area of Nangli camp around 11am.
Three Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD) units rushed to the spot, and with the aid of forest officials and locals attempted to douse the blaze.
The fire engulfed nearly an acre of land before firefighters were able to cut a fire line to prevent it from spreading further.
It was finally brought under control around 7pm, Divisional Forest Officer Saidul Islam confirmed to the Dhaka Tribune.
The source of the fire is yet to be determined.
The Forest Department has formed a three-member probe body to unearth the origin of the blaze and the extent of losses.
