One more policeman has died of Covid-19.
Nirod Chandra Mandol, 52, has passed away. He was a stenographer for the Pallabi zone under the Mirpur division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).
Md Sohel Rana, assistant inspector general (AIG-Media) at Police Headquarters confirmed the matter on Tuesday.
Nirod was admitted to Central Police Hospital in Rajarbagh after testing positive for Covid-19.
He died undergoing treatment at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital on Monday afternoon.
Nirod was laid to rest at his ancestral village in Faridpur amid with higher police officials present
He is survived by his wife, a daughter, and son.
To date, Bangladesh Police has reported the deaths of 16 police personnel from Covid-19.
As of Tuesday, 5,333 Bangladesh Police personnel in service have been infected with Covid-19 across the country.
