529 Bangladeshis return from India and Singapore

Among the returnees, 313 came from India, 216 returned from Singapore

A total of 529 Bangladeshi citizens have returned home from India and Singapore on three special flights.

These Bangladeshi nationals were stranded in India and Singapore due to travel restrictions enforced to contain the coronavirus pandemic.

A Special flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines carrying 144 passengers from Bangalore of India landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) at 6:40pm on Wednesday, said Biman's Deputy General Manager (Public Relations) Tahera Khondoker.

Earlier in the day, another special flight of Singapore Airlines carrying 216 Bangladeshis from Singapore Changi Airport landed in Dhaka at 2:25pm, a top airport security official confirmed.

One more special flight of US-Bangla Airlines carrying 169 Bangladeshis from Chennai of India landed at HSIA around 3pm.

All of the passengers brought the required valid medical certificates from India stating that they tested negative for coronavirus infection, said US-Bangla General Manager (public relations) Kamrul Islam.

However, they were also thermally scanned at the airport for further safety, said an airport health official.
