169 more Bangladesh nationals, stranded in India due to travel restrictions enforced amidst the coronavirus pandemic, have returned home.
A special US-Bangla Airlines flight from the Indian city of Chennai landed at Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 3:15pm on Tuesday.
Mohammad Sohel Kamruzzaman, public relations officer of Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) confirmed the matter.
Amongh the 169 returnees, five are children.
All of them brought the required valid medical certificates from India stating that they tested negative for coronavirus infection, said US-Bangla General Manager (public relations) Kamrul Islam.
However, they are being thermally scanned.
On Monday, 164 Bangladeshis returned home from Chennai.
US-Bangla Airlines had announced earlier it would operate eight special flights to bring back Bangladeshis stranded in India. The airline said it would operate a flight daily between April 20 and April 25.
The repatriation of the stranded Bangladeshis has been possible due to the initiative of the Bangladesh government through the missions in India, said the Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi.
