BSTI asks 20 companies to supply quality food during Ramadan

The 20 manufacturers have fast moving food items widely consumed during seheri and iftar in the fasting month of Ramadan

The Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) has urged 20 companies to manufacture and market quality food items in the upcoming Ramadan.

The 20 manufacturers have fast moving food items widely consumed during seheri and iftar in the fasting month of Ramadan, said an Industries Ministry press release issued on Sunday.

BSTI wrote letters to the manufactures, asking for their cooperation, while also disclosing other manufacturers that were the recipient of the same request, reports BSS.

 According to the BSTI, demand for 181 products shoot up during the holy month of Ramadan. The items include mineral water, soft-drinks powder, fruit syrup, fruit juice, carbonated beverage, ghee, vermicelli, noodles, pasteurized milk, ice-cream, fortified soybean, and sunflower oil.

Manufacturers who have received the letter are PRAN Foods Limited, Shabnam Vegetable Oil Limited, Akij Foods and Beverage Limited, Transcom Beverage Limited, Super Oil Refinery Limited, City Group, Brac Dairy and Food Project, Tanveer Foods Limited, Bangladesh Milk Producer’s Cooperative Union Limited, Bangladesh Edible Oil Limited, New Zealand Dairy Limited, ACI Group, Nestle Bangladesh, Bashundhara Multi Food and Beverage Limited, Abul Khayer Group, Square Foods Ltd, Bangladesh Super Shop Owners Association, BD Foods Limited, Swiss Bakery and Sajib Corporation.
