Awami League presidium member and spokesperson of the 14 party alliance Mohammad Nasim urged law enforcement to interrogate Bangabandhu’s killer Abdul Majed before his execution.
He said it on a recorded video message on Thursday morning.
“If law enforcement agencies interrogate him, the plan behind the prison killings of four national leaders may come to light,” said Nasim, son of Captain Monsur Ali, who was killed in the prison.
Nasim also requested the home minister and the law minister to interrogate Majed before the execution of his death penalty.
Earlier, on Monday night, a team from Counter-Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of police arrested Majed from Dhaka’s Mirpur Cantonment area.
On November 19, 2009, the Supreme Court upheld a High Court verdict that awarded capital punishment to 12 killers for killing Bangabandhu and most of his family members in a coup on August 15, 1975.
Majed was also involved in the murder of four national leaders in Dhaka Central Jail on November 3 the same year.
