Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Mohammad Javed Patwary has thanked and appreciated all members of police for their efforts to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
Confirming the matter to Dhaka Tribune, Assistant Inspector General (AIG-media) of police headquarters Md Sohel Rana on Thursday said an SMS was sent out by the IGP thanking and appreciating all the members of the police force and their work amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
IGP Mohammad Javed Patwary in the SMS said that he feels proud and honoured as police members are standing beside the common people of the country to stop the spread of coronavirus.
“I extend my sincere thanks and gratitude to every member of the Bangladesh Police. However, while providing services to the general people, everyone [police members] must ensure their own safety, the safety of their subordinates, colleagues, and families first," the text said.
He, via the text message, told the police to be very careful while performing their duties and not so that public outrage is avoided.
In the SMS, the IGP also urged the police force to maintain the current successful trend of activities in a bid to implement government directives regarding social distancing and quarantine.
