The Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) has extended the suspension of passenger flights to all countries except the United Kingdom and China till April 7 amid the global outbreak of coronavirus.
Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism’s Public Relations Officer Tanvir Ahmed confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune on Saturday.
Domestic flights are also suspended till April 7, though cargo flights will continue to operate normally.
CAAB officials confirmed they have not imposed any bans on flights to the UK though Biman Bangladesh Airlines has decided to suspend flights to the UK for 7 days from March 31.
Flights between Bangladesh and China will also continue to operate.
Flights to Hongkong and Thailand were suspended due to the lack of passengers but there were no official restrictions on these routes, the CAAB officials said.
On March 15, Bangladesh suspended on-arrival visas for all countries for two weeks. Passengers from all European countries except the UK will not be allowed to enter Bangladesh until March 31.
