Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will address the nation this evening, marking the first anniversary of her current government since the December 30, 2018, general election.
State owned Bangladesh Betar and Bangladesh Television will simultaneously broadcast the address at 7:30pm, said the prime minister’s press secretary Ihsanul Karim, yesterday.
Private television channels and radio stations will also air the prime minister’s speech.
Sheikh Hasina formed this government for the third consecutive term following her party Awami League’s landslide victory in the 11th parliamentary elections.
The new cabinet was formed on January 7, 2019.
Sources said, in her speech, the premier will thank the nation for a third consecutive term. She will showcase the development work of her government and will present her future plans for the nation. The prime minister will also urge the nation to celebrate Mujib Year (Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s birth centennial) and 50 years of independence.
Seeking anonymity, sources said the speech will be around 30 minutes long.
