The 49th Victory Day of Bangladesh has been celebrated amid festivity and fervour in Italy, remembering the sacrifices of freedom fighters who embraced martyrdom to liberate the country in 1971.
The Embassy of Bangladesh in Italy organized a two-day long program marking the Victory Day, a press release said on Monday.
On Monday, Bangladesh Ambassador to Italy Abdus Sobhan Sikder hoisted the national flag in the morning in the presence of other officials of the embassy, singing the national anthem in chorus.
In the evening, a discussion and cultural program was held at Teatro San Gaspare Auditorium in Tuscolana. Many expatriate Bangladeshis attended this event.
Earlier on Sunday, drawing and poem recitation competitions of children were organized at the embassy.
A cultural function, which had children as participants, was also held.
