Amid a crackdown on undocumented workers in Saudi Arabia, 75 more Bangladeshi workers have returned home.
With this, Saudi Arabia deported 332 Bangladeshis in the last three days, reports UNB.
A flight carrying 75 deportees landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka around 11:20pm on Friday, said Md Shariful Hasan, head of Brac Migration Program.
"Many of them, who returned home yesterday [Friday], had been to Saudi Arabia only a few months ago. They did not get the jobs they were supposed to get, and those who lived there for a long time do not know why they have been sent back," he added.
Shariful said around 21,000 Bangladeshis have been sent back from Saudi Arabia so far this year.
Officials of the migration program, with the help of Prabashi Kalyan Desk, provided the deported workers with immediate assistance like food, and drinking water, and helped them return home safely.
Shajeeb Hossain from Narsingdi paid Tk3.70 lakh to be employed as a mosquito-extermination worker at Al-Falah Company. However, he got a job in a supply company once he landed there.
"I was not there for even one year. I had to return home empty-handed after taking Tk50,000 from my home," he said.
Mamun Mia of Faridpur said he stayed in Saudi Arabia for four and a half years.
He even paid the Kafeel (warrantor) to renew his legal permission (akama).
"Unfortunately, he did not accept any responsibility when I was arrested, let alone renewing my akama."
