Update : 07 Aug 2019, 12:05 AM

LGRD Minister Md Tazul Islam has called for slaughtering sacrificial animals at designated spots and clearing the animal wastes as soon as possible.

"It is very important to minimize environmental pollution and ensure public health safety," he said this at an inter-ministerial meeting on slaughtering sacrificial animals at fixed spots and removing wastes on Tuesday.

The minister said some 96 cattle markets and 2,941 designated spots for slaughtering have been fixed at 12 different city corporations this year.

"Actions will be taken if anyone sets up cattle markets without permission," said Tazul.

He said the animal waste and garbage must be cleared by 9pm on the day of Eid-ul-Azha.

Round-the-clock assistance will be provided from the control rooms for removal of wastes.

It was also informed at the meeting that makeshift sheds will be erected at the places fixed for slaughtering animals inside both Dhaka North and South City Corporations.
