First day of Hajj confirmed as August 9

Zul Hijjah moon sighted in Saudi Arabia

The Saudi Supreme Court confirmed Hajj will begin on August 9, Friday.

The decision was announced as the crescent moon of Dhu Al-Hijjah was sighted in Saudi Arabia on Thursday, reports Arab News.

With Hajj beginning on Friday, pilgrims will spend the day on the plains of Mount Arafat on Saturday August 10, and Eid Al-Adha will start on Sunday August 11 in Saudi Arabia.

As of Wednesday, 1,249,951 Hajj pilgrims had arrived in the Kingdom for the pilgrimage according to statistics issued by the Saudi General Directorate of Passports, added the report.
