Shakib becomes second Bangladeshi to score WC ton

This is the third century by a Bangladeshi in the World Cup, and the previous two centuries were struck by Mahmudullah in 2015 in back-to-back games (128 against New Zealand and 103 against England)

Update : 08 Jun 2019, 11:53 PM

Shakib al Hasan became the second Bangladeshi to score a hundred at the World Cup.

Shakib scored a well-constructed 121 off 119 deliveries against England chasing 387 for victory in their third game of the 2019 World Cup at Sophia Gardens in Cardiff Saturday.

Shakib struck a dozen boundaries and one six in the course of his brilliant innings.

He picked up his eighth ODI hundred in the 37th over.

Interestingly, his seventh ODI century also came at this venue when he scored 114 against New Zealand in the 2017 Champions Trophy; Bangladesh eventually winning the game.

Shakib is in brilliant form with the bat for Bangladesh in recent times as this was his fifth fifty-plus innings in the last six ODIs.

Prior to this match, Shakib’s last five ODI innings were 64, 75, 50 not out, 29 and 61 not out.

In this World Cup, Shakib made 64 against New Zealand where Bangladesh lost narrowly, and also scored 75 against South Africa, which the Tigers won with Shakib adjudged the man-of-the-match.

This is the third century by a Bangladeshi in the World Cup, and the previous two centuries were struck by Mahmudullah in 2015 in back-to-back games (128 against New Zealand and 103 against England).
