Awami League celebrates Sheikh Hasina’s 71st birthday

The ruling party and its associate organizations celebrated the day by organizing with various humanitarian events, activities, and discussions on Hasina’s life and achievements

The Awami League and its affiliated organizations celebrated the 71st birthday of Prime Minister and party chief Sheikh Hasina on Friday with due festivities across the country. 

Sheikh Hasina, the eldest of the five children of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Begum Fazilatunnesa Mujib, was born at Tungipara in Gopalganj on September 28, 1947.

The ruling party and its associate organizations celebrated the day by organizing with various humanitarian events, activities, and discussions on Hasina’s life and achievements.

Special prayers were held at places of worship across the country, seeking divine blessings for the Prime Minister’s good health and long life.

The United States (US) branch of the Awami League arranged several programs as Sheikh Hasina is currently in the US to attend the 73rd session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). 

A day before her birthday, the ruling party’s Education and Human Resources Affairs Sub-Committee organized an art competition at the Dhaka University.

As a celebration of the premier’s birthday, Hasumoni Pathshala arranged an art exhibition at the Bangladesh Shishu Academy premises, where 71 portraits of Sheikh Hasina were displayed. The Prime Minister’s International Affairs Adviser Prof Gowher Rizvi was the chief guest present at the program. 

Awami Jubo League arranged a discussion, a blood donation camp, and a special milad to observe Sheikh Hasina’s birthday, where Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader attended as chief guest. 

Awami League organized a discussion on the life and achievements of the premier at the Krishibid Institute Bangladesh in Dhaka.

Prominent citizens, including scholars, economists, writers, physicians, and cultural personalities wished Sheikh Hasina good health and long life at the discussion meeting.   

Marking the day, the Relief and Social Welfare Sub-Committee of the Awami League distributed rickshaws, vans and food among the poor and destitute at Bangabandhu Bhaban around 10am, said Awami League Relief and Social Welfare Secretary Sujit Roy Nandi.

Under the same program, special meals were served to the children of the Azimpur orphanage, and students of different schools in Dhaka.
