Bangladesh Ambassador to Thailand and Cambodia Saida Muna Tasneem has received prestigious Atish Dipankar Peace Gold Award.
She was awarded in the category of promotion of interfaith dialogue and peace, UNB reported quoting a press release on Friday.
Deputy Speaker Fazle Rabbi Miah handed over her the award on behalf of Bangladesh Buddha Krishti Prochar Shongho in Dhaka on Thursday.
Ambassadors of Bhutan, China, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Vietnam in Bangladesh along with six other awardees from Bangladesh, China, Sri Lanka and Thailand were present at the ceremony.
The press release reads: “As Ambassador to two predominantly Buddhist Asean countries and as Bangladesh’s Permanent Representative to UNESCAP, Tasneem has been working to promote interfaith dialogue and cultural connectivity and project Bangladesh as a Buddhist Circuit Tourism Destination in these countries that receive more than 40m tourists mostly to visit their Buddhist heritage.”
The scholarly Atish Dipankar Award is dedicated to the distinguished 10th century Buddhist scholar and philosopher from Bangladesh Atish Dipankar.
