Milhanur Rahman Naumi, the person seemingly in conversation with BNP Standing Committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury in the leaked audio clip over the ongoing students' movement for safe roads, has been “detained”.
Naumi's family alleged that a group of men identifying themselves as officials of the Detective Branch (DB) from Dhaka took Naumi away from his aunt's house in Deora village in Barura upazila, Comilla around 5am on Sunday, reports Bangla Tribune.
Naumi is the son of Siddiqur Rahman, member of Ward 20 council in Comilla City Corporation and former UP chairman in Comilla Sadar upazila.
Although Siddiqur is currently a member of BNP, he used to be involved with Jamaat-e-Islami before.
Naumi's father said: "Around a week back, Naumi came to Comilla from Dhaka to attend some private events. He went to his aunt's house in Deora village to distribute invitations on Saturday evening and stayed the night there."
Later, a group of men identifying themselves as DB officials went to his house and asked after Naumi, his father said.
From there, they took Naumi's uncle Faridur Rahman with them to Naumi's aunt's house, and detained him from there.
Faridur said: "They [the group of men] said they had come from Dhaka and took me with them to my sister's house in Deora to look for Naumi. They took Naumi with them in their car, and later dropped me back to my house with the same car."
When contacted, Comilla South Sadar police station OC Md Mamun said: "We heard of the incident. However, Naumi's family has not filed any complaints, and the DB has not informed us anything of the matter."
Earlier on Sunday, BNP Standing Committee member and former commerce minister Amir Khasru was sued under the ICT and Special Powers acts after an audio clip over the ongoing students' movement for safe roads went viral.
Zakaria Dastagir, acting general secretary of the Chittagong city unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League, lodged the case with Chittagong Kotwali police station under Section 57 (2) of the Information and Communication Technology Act and Section 15 (3) of the Special Powers Act around on Saturday.
According to the case, the plaintiff alleged that the BNP leader was hatching a conspiracy against the country and made provocative speeches in a bid to incite anarchy.
In the audio clip, which went viral on YouTube and Facebook on Saturday, a phone conversation was heard between two men, one young and one old.
