Partial eclipse of the sun on Friday

However, people will not be able to view the eclipse in Bangladesh

Update : 12 Jul 2018, 02:36 AM

According to information from the Climate Division of Bangladesh Meteorological Department, a partial eclipse of the sun will occur on July 13.

However, people will not be able to view the eclipse in Bangladesh.  The partial eclipse will be mainly visible over Southern Ocean between Australia and Antarctica. Since the eclipse will occur during winter time in the Southern Hemisphere, most of Antarctica will be experiencing "polar nights".

The partial eclipse will reach a maximum magnitude of 0.3367. Eclipse magnitude is what fraction of the sun's diameter is covered by the moon.

Viewers will be able to watch the eclipse from South-Eastern Australia to Northern Antarctica.

The first solar eclipse of 2018 took place on February 15, and was visible only from parts of Antarctica, the Atlantic Ocean and South America.

People are cautioned to take appropriate safety measures while viewing the partial eclipse, as looking at the sun with naked eye might lead to blindness and other forms of permanent eye damage.
