UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and World Bank President Jim Yong Kim are likely to come to Bangladesh next month on a two-day visit, mainly to observe the Rohingya situation.

They will hold meetings with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Finance Minister AMA Muhith, if they visit, a diplomatic source said on Monday.

Foreign Ministry sources said such a visit was under discussion.

The World Bank may provide Bangladesh with a grant of around $200 million to help tackle the ongoing Rohingya crisis, sources said.

More than 700,000 Rohingyas have fled to Bangladesh since August 25 last year— after the Myanmar security forces launched a brutal crackdown targeting the mainly-Muslim ethnic minority in Rakhine state.
