In what has been the second case of suicide in one week at Makkah’s Grand Mosque, a Bangladeshi man jumped off of the first floor and into the Kaaba circumambulation area.
Authorities have launched an inquiry, but they are yet to identify the victim by name. To add to the tragedy, he fell on a praying Sudanese man, causing him serious injuries including fractures, according to Saudi news site Sabq.
Later, security forces checked CCTV footage, which showed the man jumping over the first floor fence to to his death, reports Gulf News.
This incident follows in the wake of a 26-year-old Frenchman committing suicide in the exact same fashion a week earlier.
