Cabinet Secretary Md Shafiul Alam has informed that the gazette for quota reform in government jobs is still being processed.
He made the statement in a press briefing held in the conference hall of the Secretariat on Monday, reports Bangla Tribune.
Shafiul said: "A committee led by the Cabinet secretary has been created by the Ministry of Public Administration to issue the quota reform gazette. The committee sent a summary of minority and female quota to the prime minister's office.
"However, I have not received any directives yet," he continued. "Maybe I will receive them within a few days. As soon as I get the directives, the gazette will be issued immediately."
Students at different colleges and universities across Bangladesh have boycotted classes and examinations protesting government’s failure in publishing a gazette abolishing the quota system.
The indefinite class and examination boycott program began on Monday, as the government failed to meet the deadline for publishing the gazette.
