Election Commission plans to construct 31 server stations countrywide

The Election Commission (EC) has plannedto set up 31 server stations all over the country to reduce pressure and minimize security risk in the database server ahead of the 11th national polls. Regional election officials sent proposals to the Election Commission to procure space to set up the servers in their respective areas. EC officials from Dhaka, Chattogram, Cumilla, Rajshahi, Sylhet, Rangpur, Gaibandha, and Faridpur proposed constructing server in their regions. A meeting on feasibility assessment for the project will be held on May 10 at the Election Commission’s Agargaon office. The meeting will be held to assess feasibility for setting up server stations in the remaining upazilas and districts. Sources said former chief election commissioner ATM Shamsul Huda had directed the commission to undertake the project titled “Construction of Upazila and Regional Server Stations for Electoral Database” 10 years ago. There were plans to set up 465 servers down to the upazila, district, and city corporation levels. A total of 393 upazilas and 52 districts have servers. Several other servers are located in other regions.
