Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina may discuss abolishing the quota system from government jobs in the upcoming parliament session.
She informed Chhatra League leaders about this on Wednesday.
Central Chhatra League President, Saifur Rahman Sohag and General Secretary, Jakir Hossain were meeting with Sheikh Hasina to update her on the students' quota reform protests, when the Prime Minister provided them the assurance.
Sohag said: “The Prime Minister told us that she may be bringing up the issue of withdrawing quota from government jobs in the parliament session this afternoon.”
Jakir said: “We brought up the students' logical demands regarding quota reform to the Prime Minister. She may be acquiescing to these demands in today's parliament.”
Awami League Joint General Secretary, Jahangir Kabir Nanok will be bringing this issue up in parliament, when Sheikh Hasina will elaborate on it, Awami League sources said.This article was first published on banglatribune.com
