March 1 to be observed as National Voters' Day

The government has decided to observe March 1 every year as the National Voters' Day. The decision was made in the weekly cabinet meeting with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair at her office in Dhaka on Monday. Briefing reporters at the secretariat, Secretary of the Cabinet Division (Coordination and Reforms) MN Ziaul Alam said the day will be observed complying with the resolution of the Forum of Election Management Bodies of South Asia. Every country in the Saarc region observes their own national day for voters, he said. Bangladesh will observe the day to make the people about democracy, election and their voting rights, he said.
