Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Chairman Iqbal Mahmud has said coaching centres are not only illegal, but also hubs of corruption.
Iqbal made this statement at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium after a conference and cultural program of its Integrity Units.
“Recently, the education minister has said all coaching centres are illegal. We want to say that they are also rife with corruption. Let us request the government, students, and guardians to put an end to these illegal and corrupt coaching centres,” he said.
The ACC chief also said: “We must stop the leakage of question papers and this business of coaching centres altogether at any cost. Our children will not spend their entire days at coaching centres.”
Speaking to teachers, he said: “You are the pillars of development for the nation. We at ACC will always look out for your best interest. Teach in classrooms in such a way that students do not need coaching afterwards. The government has increased your salaries and we want you to raise the bar so that your salaries are increased even more.”
Next he addressed students, saying: “Focus on learning better instead of getting greedy about grades. You will be the country’s skilled, able manpower which is priceless.”
At the start of the event, Iqbal had the Integrity Units take a vow, telling them that they are the future of the ACC.
ACC Secretary Dr Md Shamsul Arefin and Director General (Prevention) Md Zafar Iqbal spoke at the event, among others.
The Anti-Corruption Commission has formed over 25,000 Integrity Units all over the country to create a nationwide environment of resistance against corruption, with the youth at their centre.This article was first published on banglatribune.com
