The bodies of the four United Nations (UN) peacekeepers who were killed in landmine explosion in central Mali on February 28 were handed over to their families on Friday.
Their namaz-e-janaza was held at the Choppers Den of the 13th Military Police (MP) unit at Dhaka Cantonment, at 9am on Friday.
Chiefs of the three armed forces and other high ranking officials were present at the namaz-e-janaza, including Deputy Commander of MINUSMA Force General Amadou Kane. They paid tribute by placing floral wreaths on the coffins of the deceased.
Later, the bodies were sent to their respective villages on Air Force’s helicopters and handed over to family members.
Earlier, the bodies reached Dhaka on Thursday.

The four UN peacekeepers were killed and four others seriously wounded, all of them Bangladeshis, when the vehicle they were in hit a mine in central Mali.
The deceased are Bangladesh Army Warrant Officer Abul Kalam of Pirojpur (37 AD Regiment Artillery), Lance Corporal Akhter of Mymensingh (9 Field Regiment Artillery), Trooper Raihan of Pabna (32 East Bengal) and Trooper Jamal of Chapainawabganj (32 East Bengal).
The injured were, Corporal Rasel of Naogaon (32 East Bengal), Trooper Akram of Rajbari (32 East Bengal), Trooper Newton of Jessore (17 Bir) and Trooper Rashed of Kurigram (32 East Bengal).This article was first published on banglatribune.com
