Police halt nationwide recruitment of 10,000 constables

Bangladesh Police issued an urgent missive to all the superintendents of police in all 64 districts to suspend the recruitment of 10,000 constables. Police headquarters Public Relations Officer Kamrul Ahsan confirmed the instruction was issued on Sunday. On December 21 of last year, police issued a notice about recruiting 8,500 men and 1,500 women as trainee recruit constables. According to several sources, the recruitment has been suspended over talks to centralize the entire recruitment. Senior police officers have discussed the idea during Police Week 2018. Traditionally, the recruitment of constables has been overseen by superintendents.
