Panel led by Prof Dr Abulk Barakat and Dr Jamaluddin Ahmed has own the majority of seats in the Bangladesh Economic Association committee election.
A press release by the association on Sunday said the panel, named 'Manusher jonno orthonity,' won 28 of the 29 seats. Prof Barakat was elected president, and Dr Jamaluddin Ahmed FCA was elected general secretary of BEA.
Mostafizur Rahman Sardar was elected treasurer.
The election was held at Institute of Diploma Engineers building in Dhaka on Saturday. The 29 posts were contested by 35 members.
The other newly-elected committee members are:
vice-presidents Md Abdul Hannan, Dr Mohammad Abul Hossain, AFM Shariful Islam, Prof Hannana Begum and AZM Saleh; joint-secretaries Dr Md Liakat Hossain Morol and Badrul Munir; assistant secretaries Md Mozammel Haque, Shahanara Begum, Meherun Nesa, Nowshad Mostafa and Sheikh Ali Ahmed; and members Dr Md Moazzem Hossain Khan, Prof Dr Mohammad Mamun, Prof Md Saidur Rahman, Prof Dr Md Alamgir Hossain Bhuyian, SM Rashidul Islam, Syed Israr Ul Haq, Syeda Nazma Parvin, Md Habibul Islam, Md Jahangir Alam, Mansur MY Chowdhury, Parthasarathi Ghosh, Prof Subhash Kumar Sengupta and Nesar Ahmed.
