The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has announced a 12-day program to observe Martyrs Intellectuals Day and Victory Day that will take place from December 13 to December 24.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir made the announcement at a press briefing at the party's Naya Paltan office in Dhaka last week following a meeting of the party and its affiliate bodies.
On Wednesday, the first day of the program, the party held a discussion at Mahanagar Natya Mancha in Dhaka.
On Martyred Intellectuals Day on Thursday, BNP leaders led by Chairperson Khaleda Zia will pay homage to the martyred intellectuals at the Martyred Intellectuals Memorial in the morning.
The party will also keep the national flag and party flag half-mast and hoist black flags atop its Naya Paltan central office and all other offices around the country.
To mark Victory Day on Saturday, BNP will hoist the national and party flags atop its party offices in the morning.
BNP chief Khaleda Zia along with senior party leaders and activists will place wreaths at National Mausoleum in Savar on the day.
Later in the day, Khaleda will also place wreaths at the grave of BNP founder and her husband Ziaur Rahman at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar.
On December 17, the party will bring out a Victory Day Rally in Dhaka to celebrate the occasion.
The party will also hold a discussion on Victory Day in Dhaka on December 19.
On December 24, the party plans to arrange a get-together of freedom fighters at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh.
