Annisul's namaj-e-janaza at Dhaka's Army Stadium at 4pm Saturday

People from all walks of life may pay their last respects to recently deceased Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) mayor Annisul Huq at the Army Stadium in Dhaka on Saturday. Annisul, known primarily as a successful businessman and a popular TV show host, passed away at a London hospital at the age of 65 on Thursday. A Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight will carry his body back to the country, and is scheduled to land at Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 11:20am on Saturday.

According to the schedule fixed by his family, the body will first be taken to his Dhaka residence at around 12:30pm, before it is moved to the Army stadium at 3pm. Later, after the Asr prayers, his second namaz-e-janaza will be held at the stadium at 4pm. Subsequently, he will be buried at  Banani graveyard, alongside the grave of his mother and son. Annisul's first namaj-e-janaza was held at Regent’s Park Mosque in London at around 6:45pm (BDT) on Friday. The janaza was attended by hundreds of Bangladeshi origin people, including Bangladesh High Commissioner in London Nazmul Quaunine, Deputy High Commissioner Khondker M Talha, and Awami League UK Chapter President Sultan Mohammad Sharif.

The businessman-turned-mayor went to the UK on July 29 on a family visit. He was admitted to the National Neuroscience Hospital in London after losing consciousness while undergoing medical tests for neurological problems on August 13. Annisul, who had led apex trade bodies such as the BGMEA and the FBCCI, was elected as the mayor of Dhaka North City Corporation in 2015.
