4 killed in Gazipur truck plunge

Four people have been killed and another injured as a truck plunged into a roadside ditch in Baghia area of Gazipur district. The deceased are truck driver, Sohel Mia, 29, son of Alek Mia of Baghia area, Shree Sujon Rai, 23, son of Shree Horesh Chondro Rai of Rangpur, Shree Dilip Rai, 22, son of Shree Alin Rai, and Shree Kajol Rai, 24, son of Shree Rakhal Rai of the same area. Locals said the truck plunged into a roadside ditch when its driver lost his control over the steering while giving side to a human-hauler in Baghai area around 3am on Thursday, killing four on the spot. Kapasia OC Abu Bakkar Siddique said: “Upon receiving information, we sent a police team to the spot and recovered the bodies.” Sujon’s uncle Shree Shubash Rai said: “Sujon, Horesh and Dilip used to work at Korom Molla Brick. The accident took place while they were returning from the brickfield.” Injured brickfield worker Subol Chondro said: “We were sleeping beside the driver when the accident took place. Later, the locals rescued me.” Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College and Hospital duty doctor Rashedul Islam said: “All four of them were declared dead on arrival.”
