Google celebrates Bangladeshi writer Humayun Ahmed’s birthday

Update : 13 Nov 2017, 09:11 AM
The world’s most-used web search engine Google has created a doodle marking the birthday of Bangladeshi writer Humayun Ahmed. Humayun Ahmed would have turned 69 on Monday (today). The Doodle imagines Humayun Ahmed at his estate, meeting with Himu, a much-loved character from his novels. Humayun authored over 200 books, many of which were best sellers and eight of which were made into films. He was also a dramatist, screenwriter, filmmaker, song writer, scholar and lecturer and was often credited with revitalising Bengali literature. His unique storytelling style captures the oral tradition and rhythm at the root of Bangla, bringing to life the stories and aspirations of traditional middle class and rural families. Humayun Ahmed died on July 19, 2012. Google Doodle is a special, temporary alteration of the logo on Google’s homepage that is intended to celebrate holidays, events, achievements and people and have been so since 1998.
