“The fire broke out at 4:45pm Wednesday. Four fire fighting units doused the fire within half an hour,” Fire Service Control Room Officer Palash Madak confirmed it to the Dhaka Tribune.
Senior Station Officer Abdulllah Arefin said: “Cigarette butt caused the fire on the scrapped fabrics in a garment storeroom housed at the ninth floor of the market.”
No one was injured in the fire as the garment had been closed for last few days, the fire service official added.
Wednesday's blaze comes one day after a massive fire broke out at the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) market in Gulshan 1, causing extensive damage but no reported injuries.More to follow...
