Update : 03 Jan 2017, 04:44 PM
He reached there Tuesday around 11am and met the leaders of local Hindu Buddha Christian Oikya Parishad at Nasirnagar Press Club, reports the Bangla Tribune, sister concern of the Dhaka Tribune. On October 30, a mob attacked Hindu-dominated localities in Nasirnagar, injuring more than 100 people and damaging at least 17 temples and Kali Puja pavilions, and over 50 houses over a Facebook post allegedly hurting the sentiment of the Muslims. Six more houses of Hindus were set afire in the upazila a few days later, followed by an attack on the houses of Nasirnagar Upazila Parishad Vice-Chairman Anjan Deb and a Hindu fisherman’s house. Johan Frisell said: “I have come here to observe the October 30 attack. About 25% of the residents living there are Hindus. We should work to maintain communal harmony. “We should learn a lesson from it so that tragedies like this do not recur,” he added. He requested all to find the way in keeping communal harmony in society. During the meet, the parishad's president Adesh Chandra Deb and general secretary Sujit Chakrabarty were present among others.
